Sun Protectors

Location - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I wanted to see what the 16x9 ratio would look like. I think it works for this photo.

My goal this week, work out 5 times.

You're mine, boy )

You think this looks like one of those really shitty straight-to-dvd action movies about real-life gaming? That's what I thought too, until I saw the trailer. IT WILL BE EPIC. I swear, I'm more excited for this than I was for Star Trek, Watchmen and Transformers 2 (shut up I am allowed to like that movie) combined (not really, but you get my point). MICHAEL C HALL Y'ALL. I hope this gets an IMAX release. Also I am highly amused by the fact that Sam Witwer is in this as a social worker BECAUSE I CAN'T NOT THINK OF HIM AS CRASHDOWN. Apparently, Milo Ventimiglia is in this too, playing a character called Rick Rape (idek) but I haven't spotted him in the trailer :/

I'd say something about Gerard Butler probably having a contract that states he has to be half-naked in every movie he's in, but that would be lame.

HAWT.

i'd been pushing against him for so long that when he was gone i fell on my face. i was lost, i had no leverage, no gravity. a frictionless place is difficult, too smooth, too empty. i missed him, i missed him terribly. i realized i loved him, had loved him the whole time, loved him deeply and completely, and i had been fighting him because i was afraid, afraid of his beauty and depth of feeling. i was afraid that he would open a door in me that once opened could never be shut again. i'd been wrong and he had been beautiful. he disappeared and the color of things began to fade.

I checked my mailbox on the way home from work today, and to my surprise, I found a small envelope addressed to me, from my boyfriend. I was not expecting it at all, and it turned out to be a random card with a $284.76 Lululemon giftcard enclosed. I immediately laughed at the amount written directly on the front of the card, and although the random amount may seem a little odd to everyone else, it's an inside joke from the beginning of our relationship. I had told him a couple weeks ago that there were certain things I wanted to buy from Lululemon, but I didn't tell him what they were, so he decided to go out and buy a giftcard instead. I thought that was very sweet of him. Extremely unnecessary, but I'm very appreciative.

In other news, course scheduling has been driving me nuts for the last couple days. My program has limited enrollment and it was so hard to get into the courses I wanted, especially when each class limit is only twenty freakin' five. Oh well, I got into some other interesting classes, and I know other people who are in a worse situation than me, so I'm going to stop complaining about it and suck it up. Courses I'll be taking in the 09/10 school year. )

HUGE Dutch music post

There are a lot of good Dutch music acts, mostly hip hop and dance artists, but there are a couple of indie gems too. With this post, I'm trying to introduce Dutch made music to the rest of you, hoping you guys like it! There is more than 300mb worth of songs here so enjoy :D about half of the songs uploaded here are in Dutch, but that doesn't mean they sound bad or anything. Give 'em a try, and let me know what you think! I did not include descriptions for every song or act. If you want to know more, just ask.

To download these songs, right-click on the link and press "save as". I uploaded these on my own server and I'd greatly appreciate it you don't direct-link them or share the links outside this post. It took me forever to gather all these songs (Dutch music is kinda hard to come by) and upload them. I'd love you forever if you pimp this post though!

Over 60 songs, ranging from indie to club music! )

HI I AM RISEN FROM THE ASHES OF LJ-LAND. After a 10 day roadtrip along the East Coast with the friends, I am finally back in my favourite city. The road trip was so full of new jokes, bad songs on the radio, sand, fattening food, and general merriment. Anyway, expect my next few posts to be filled with road trip-related photos.

Anyway. A brief diversion. Here's what I've been up to besides all the road-trip-related stuff: I saw Metric live, I met [info]goodbye and [info]binary in NY, I bought tickets for Harry Potter and the FREAKING HALF BLOOD PRINCE movie, and I found out that I'm going to Egypt and Turkey in one month.

Okay, switching gears (har har, see what I did thar) to the subject of road trip. This was the itinerary and we actually stuck with it!

6/26: New York, NY ► Long Island
6/27: Long Island ► Virginia Beach/Norfolk, VA
6/28: Virginia Beach/Norfolk, VA ► Raleigh, NC
6/29: Raleigh, NC ► Charleston, SC
6/30: Charleston, SC
7/1: Charleston, SC ► Asheville, NC
7/2: Asheville, NC ► Washington, DC
7/3: Washington, DC
7/4: Washington, DC
7/5: Washington, DC ► New York, NY

roadtrip: day i (6/27)

agenda:
◊ Waking up bright and early in Long Island only to clock in eight hours on the interstate
◊ Ate Checker's (Rally's for the Midwest folk), Carvel's, Cinnabon, Popeye's, Burger King in the span of 16 hours --- even before we hit Virginia.
◊ Yelled at shitty drivers who do things like tailgate trucks and stop in the middle of a highway.
◊ Introduced my friends to the greatness that is "Party All the Time" by Eddie Murphy (we made a dance to this; it's amazing and that's all I have to say)
◊ Arrived at Norfolk, VA and marvelled at the abundance of mermaid-related things
◊ Ate at Doumar's Barbecue, which is famous for both the barbecue and the ice cream cones. I had both!

party all the time, party all the time )

Finally developed the last two rolls of film from my fisheye camera. A lot of the shots actually turned out pretty disappointing, but here are some decent ones from my vacation/cruise to the Bahamas, as promised! )

The last place you'd ever expect to find yourself )

I haven't seen the movie yet and I have no idea if this is going to be released in regular movie theaters. The UK gets it July 17th, and according to the IMDb boards it's being released in The Netherlands August 20th. Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal get it July 3rd, other Canadian cities around July 10th. I believe there's a limited US release, according to Wiki "the film will be receiving wide release across the United States on 3 July 2009 and 10 July 2009" , but I have seen zero advertising for this so idk. I love the trailer and Sam Rockwell is in it so I hope it gets the recognition it deserves!

i wrote a little message on the wall.
it gave me some closure and made me happy.
i really need to start getting the fuck over this.

Hey, I've acquired a full length screening DVD of Labor Pains. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing it? The street date is August 4th, but I'd be able to ship this immediately.

Mods, if this post is against the rules, I'll remove it.

I bought a new digital camera last week -- just a Canon Powershot SD1200, nothing fancy, but I've been meaning to get a new point and shoot for a while. I really do want to invest in a DSLR, but I don't know if it's feasible and realistic right now, so I'll hold off. Besides, I spend most of my time at work shooting pictures with the company's camera anyways. So that's where tax payers money go I guess.... towards couple thousand dollar photography gadgets and lenses to be used for training modules. Ha, the Government.

Speaking of work, I came in this morning to find that my boss left on a two week vacation without leaving me any work. I mean, hey, I can't really complain, but I hate feeling so unproductive, especially on the job. So I took the initiative to send him an email requesting for something productive to do. He replies and says "Hey, I will think of something cool for you to do for next week, but in the mean time, swipe into my office, grab the DSLR and shoot some photos around the Chamber and the rest of the building. Oh, and make me a pretty business card, info is attached. Thanks!" ... Uhh, alright Mike, if you say so. God, I love my job. I can say this a million times but it never gets old. My boss is awesome.
